Avalon Guitars
Every legend has a beginning.
A full visual suite supporting a brand relaunch.
Documentary films explored luthiers and ownership, while product and e-commerce imagery highlighted craftsmanship, materiality and tone.
The Client
Avalon Guitars is a Northern Irish maker of handcrafted acoustic guitars, built by luthiers who have spent decades refining their craft. Every instrument begins with carefully chosen tonewood and is shaped, voiced and finished by hand, balancing tradition with innovation. Avalon sees guitar making as a relationship between maker, material and musician, creating instruments recognised around the world for their clarity, resonance and individual character.
The Challenge
The challenge was to capture a process defined by patience and precision while bringing the people and wider story of Avalon into view. Lighting was central: the grain of the tonewoods, curved bodies, polished finishes and smallest working details all needed to read clearly without losing the natural character of the workshop. The imagery had to move between close observation and a more considered product language, making the craft feel both human and refined.
The Solution
We created a brand film alongside documentary and product photography, following Avalon’s luthiers as each instrument moved through the workshop. A carefully controlled lighting approach revealed the grain, shape and finish of the guitars while preserving the atmosphere of the space. By pairing moments of hands at work with composed studies of the completed instruments, we connected the making process, the people behind it and the wider Avalon story.
